Oracle Expands AI Infrastructure with AMD, Deploying 50,000 GPUs to Challenge Nvidia
Oracle and AMD have deepened their collaboration with plans to deploy 50,000 AI GPUs on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) starting in Q3 2026. The initiative, one of AMD's largest cloud wins to date, signals Oracle's strategic pivot to scale AI infrastructure beyond Nvidia's supply constraints. Initial deployments will feature AMD's Instinct MI300X and MI355X GPUs, targeting next-gen AI model training.
Market reaction was mixed: AMD shares rose 3.47% to $223.86 while Oracle's stock dipped 1.85%. The MOVE addresses accelerating demand for flexible, large-scale AI compute solutions as models outgrow current cluster limitations. "Customers are building ambitious AI applications that require robust, scalable infrastructure," Oracle noted in its announcement.
